PRIVACY POLICY Studiolo: The Long Study PRIVACY POLICY ============== Studiolo Last updated 30 August 2026 Studiolo is a reading program. This policy describes everything it collects, why, and what happens to it. It is short because the app collects little. ------------------------------------------------------------------ WHAT STUDIOLO STORES ABOUT YOU ------------------------------ Your email address and password. Required to create an account. The password is never stored — our authentication provider stores a cryptographic hash of it, and nobody at Studiolo can read or recover it. Your reading record. Which shelves you are enrolled in, which books you have marked as finished, the answers you write when you mark them, notes you carry between shelves, capstone drafts, field tests you log, and the name you choose to put on your certificate. Your capstones and their evaluations. When you ask for a capstone to be graded, the text you wrote is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for evaluation and is stored alongside the resulting grade, so that a grade can always be checked against the work it was given for. Your grading credits. A record of credits purchased and credits spent. Purchases are processed by Apple; Studiolo receives a transaction identifier and never sees your payment details. That is the complete list. WHAT STUDIOLO DOES NOT COLLECT ------------------------------ - No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind - No advertising identifiers, and no advertising - No location data - No contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or health data - No third-party trackers or SDKs that phone home - No profile built about you, and nothing sold or shared with anyone for marketing WHY EACH THING IS STORED ------------------------ Your reading record exists so that a book you mark on your phone is marked on your computer, and so that a year of your writing survives a lost device. That is the only reason accounts exist at all. Your capstones are stored so your transcript can show what a grade was given for. A grade with no visible submission behind it cannot be checked or disputed. Your credit ledger is stored so that a balance can always be explained — every credit added or spent is a line in it. WHO ELSE SEES IT ---------------- Anthropic (Claude API) — only when you ask for a grading. The text of that one capstone and the module's grading instrument are sent for evaluation. Nothing else is sent: not your email, not your other writing, not your identity. Anthropic's API terms apply to that request. Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores the data described above on our behalf. Apple — processes purchases and tells us only that a transaction occurred. Nobody else. Studiolo has no advertisers, no data partners, and nothing to sell. WHERE IT IS STORED ------------------ On servers in the United States (Supabase, us-west-2). Your device also keeps a local copy of your reading record so the app works without a connection. HOW LONG IT IS KEPT ------------------- Until you delete it. Studiolo does not expire accounts or purge old writing. DELETING EVERYTHING ------------------- Account → Delete this account, inside the app. This is immediate and permanent. It removes your account, every mark, every answer, every capstone, every evaluation, and your credit ledger, including any credits you have bought and not used. Nothing is retained in backups beyond the normal rotation of our database provider, and we cannot restore it for you afterwards. You do not need to email anyone or fill in a form. CHILDREN -------- Studiolo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. SECURITY -------- All traffic uses TLS. Your session token is held in the iOS Keychain. Database access is governed by row-level security rules, which means your rows are reachable only by you — a signed-in reader cannot read another reader's writing even by asking the database directly. The grading substrates are readable by neither. CHANGES ------- If this policy changes materially, the app will say so before the change takes effect. CONTACT ------- dph64@georgetown.edu
